Latest Match report; Dimmocks Cote v CAAS
Whilst these reports normally go on the match page it's more hassel than it's worth so here goes. Mark Leach got it right to an extent considering he didn't like his peg that much with 3lbs of bits close in. Andrew made more than one tactical error but wasn't helped by having a swim full of Pike, he didn't bother weighing in! Like Andrew, Graham couldn't get his head round it and caught very little but also like Andrew beat the angler either side of him and finally the 'Old Man' of the team John Puddick caught steadily throughout albeit very small fish for just under 3lbs. Cambridge Albion had a very strong side out but all credit to them for filling the top 3 places, Mark came a very creditable 4th.
Reservoir
It seems like last year we are getting some un-invited guests who are night fishing on our lake. Fair enough it happens and it does annoy people, but to leave the amount of litter that was strewn around the lake was nothing short of disgusting. I know for a fact that it is not any of our members as we are more than capable of keeping our fishing venues tidy. This incident has been reported to our Landlords who will be stepping up patrols around the lake, especially after dark so if you're reading this be warned, more so if you park your car in our car park without a permit because you may have a mammoth walk home in the morning! Rant over!!!
On a more encouraging note Tony has reported some good sport with as many as 10 fish in a sitting, both good sized Carp and Tench.
Ducketts
Mark Leach has developed a method of fishing at 5meters and catching loads of small fish (15 to the pound by the sounds of it!) but at least he's catching. Recent trips have yeiled weights of 6lbs and 4lbs of these tiny fish, although he has seen the Bream rolling which is goon news. The EA have cut the weed for us which we thank them for and the margins are a lot less weedy than normal. Keep an eye on this webpage as I suspect it will only be a matter of time before reports of good Bream hauls are reported.
Cantelupe
John Puddick and Peter Brett (the midweekers!) have had a few small fish from swims on the River. Stick float and Maggot or Pinkie seems to sort out a few fish feeding Castor and Hemp.
We badly need some rain to fall as the Brook is 'Gin Clear' in places. There are some huge amounts of fry in some areas which bodes well for the future.
We are currently liasing with the EA as the Sluice Gate at Byrons Pool doesn't seem to be functioning properly. The water should normally flow over the Weir but for some reason the water level has dropped, hence the sheer amount of weed directly above the Weir.
Don Reed Match
This match is now fully booked so thankyou for those who have put their names down. A sign will go up on the gate the day before the match as obviously every peg will be taken.
